SCR Fight Club: Boxing and MMA St. Louis

Mixed Martial Arts

BOXING

We split again with boxing; won one, lost two and Dorsey's bout was canceled. Dan Busch got a unanimous win after a brawl that had both guys throwing mucho punches, but Dan landed the most bombs to win and had his opponent staggered a couple times. Everybody thought he was going to stop him in the first. With two days to train and a black and blue ankle Dan managed to gut it out for the call...congrats Dan...

Bryan Paulus, only his 3rd fight and first after winning Golden Gloves last winter, decided to fight a older man with 13-14 fights and an open boxer to boot. He wanted a challenge and figured he had nothing to loose. Bryan looked to win the first round, but ran out of gas in the second. He had trained well for this one, but may have burned too much energy in the first. He threw every punch hard....he decidedly lost the second round, but seemed to come back in the third...which was closer, but not enough to win as the judges gave all 3 rounds to the open boxer. Great job Bryan...only 18 years old, you have much to look forward to.

Jake, just turning 15, but the youngster he was matched against backed out a few days before the fight. Jake ended up fighting a much older guy (19?) that was a head taller than Jake and much bigger looking than expected. Jake couldn't get pass the guys reach, but kept pushing the entire fight as the guy sniped at him for 3 rounds. Tough luck Jake...you were in top shape...

JC wins 7th with 7th submit

Josh Crouch beats Brock Counts with triangle in the first round; CONGRATS JOSH!

Pageant! Pro show...

Next big fight April 17th at the Pageant in the Delmar Loop.

SCR's Todd Brown will be fighting in his second Professional Boxing match.

Some tickets are still available, but not many.

Leave me a message if you want tickets.

See everyone there

Jake Holden wins...

Jake Holden won again Sat night (3 April) in Cedar Hill with another hard fought victory over tough and willin' boxer from Realm Boxing Gym. Congrats Jake!

Jake Holden

Jake won two out of three rounds...but...the judges didn't see it that way. So it goes...no excuses..but a well fought match with two boxers who know how to box.
Congrats to both...!

Josh Crouch wins 3 in 3 weeks...

And Josh wins his 6th fight at River City Rumble, Belthalto. Josh got the submission in less than a minute of the first round with and arm choke while in a half guard...another reason why the ref shouldn't interfere when Josh is still working in the other guys guard. Good job Josh...you can rest a while now...

Josh Crouch takes another win...

Josh Crouch takes another win at St Charles Convention Center "Collegiate Clash" MMA show. Josh dodged a couple wild kicks and a "superman punch" from a quick and strong fighter (even caught a hook near the eye) but was never really in trouble and controlled one and a half rounds of quick action before trapping his opponent in an arm bar to finish the match. Good job again Josh...

Hats off to Luke Elders and Will Davidson for putting on a great MMA show last Sat, 6 March, 2010...things were smooth, tight and highly professional with great match-ups slick amateur cage fighting on almost every match. Look for them in the future; American Cagefighting Championships (Collegiate Clash) at a very nice venue: St Charles Convention Center...can't do better than that...

Josh Crouch takes one in the Heart...

Josh got his hands untracked and landed 3 good punches...one after the other...on the nose of his opponent right after the bell in the first...then pretty much dominated his guy until he submitted him with an arm bar in the early second...

Congrats Josh...good fight!

Hat's off to his opponent, Deaton Ellis...tough fighter ..class act...

Jake Holden wins...

Congrats to Jake Holden on a good win in Cedar Hill Mo. against a savvy boxer from Kirk Douglas's Realm Gym...Jake took a unanimous decision...way to go Jake!

Sevencorner Road
CONGRATS JAKE!

CK goes 4-2

CK lost a close fight to a pretty...big...looking guy...CK landed more punches....almost 3-1, but the judges may have discounted them, even though they turned the opponents head every time they landed....but...CK couldn't get untracked inside; the guy could muscle CK out...he was strong; CK ran out of gas in the last round...but he took the fight on 3 days notice and wasn't in top shape; tough luck CK...next time...

Bryan Paulus wins 132 class Golden Gloves Championship!

In the championship round Bryan Paulus fought his second fight...ever; the first amateur fight he won in the Gloves prelims at SBAC. So a big congrats to Bryan Paulus on his win at St Louis Golden Gloves Finals at the Heart! Close fight, but there was no doubt Bryan had won...clean, hard punches thrown against a more experienced boxer and MMA fighter with 20 plus fights. Bryan's defense was rock solid and his conditioning top notch...he was throwing just as hard in the 3rd as he was in the first. Congrats Bryan...nice job champ.

Jesse lost a close fight on points (we felt Jesse landed more punches...but hey...judges call...)...but he fought well and if it had gone another round he would have figured out the southy and took it to him...but short rounds and time ran out. Good chess match of a fight...congrats to both!

Machine Hall...

Josh Crouch fought a long 3 rounds and came up short on the judges card. Josh had lost much training time due to work schedule and may not have been in top form...though he will not make that excuse...perhaps I should have held him back. However, we were a little surprised when the ref kept standing the fighters up when Josh was in his opponents guard and working...he was throwing punches and trying to make an opening when he was stopped and told to stand...which is not all bad since Josh managed to throw some painful knees; a strike and some takedowns. Josh also had the edge in takedowns, but since they never really explain how they score these things it was hard to tell...but Josh seemed to win the second and third rounds. The first round his guy spent the entire time in a body tri-angle that was going nowhere.
In the last round Josh was caught briefly in a mount and as his guy was hanging on to the cage, Josh hooked him from behind, pulled him over into a ankle lock that he almost pulled off...but he was a little too close to the cage to get good leverage...then time ran out. Tough fight...Proud of ya' Josh. Josh also asked for a rematch...

St. Louis Golden Gloves

Both Jesse Geringer and Bryan Paulus won their fights at St Louis Golden Gloves. Congrats guys...good job! They now both advance to the finals 12 Feb at the Heart of St Charles Hall...come out and support them...!

Metro Fight; Belthalto

Metro Fight Belthalto: Josh Crouch got a tap out in the second round after a pretty tough fighter kept slamming him while Josh had him in a triangle; he even tossed Josh completely over his head once while pressed against the cage...but Josh's corner told him to stay calm and let this guy burn for a while; finally in the second round Josh got him in a triangle that he smoothly shifted to a top position...and while isolating his head there, threw strikes until the guy was done...nice move. Congrats to Josh for staying calm and collected and waiting for the right moment. His guy was fast, strong and explosive...but that doesn't always do the job. Three wins for Josh...three different submissions; some you don't see everyday. He really should have won a homer in is first fight...but, what the hell. Good job cornermen Jesse Geringer and Eric Bower...thanks...........Dan Busch walked into a snake pit with everybody from Alton there to support their home fighter...a tough and fast 160 who was pumped up to say the least. The fight went 3 rounds and Dan's guy kept getting the take downs...but...except for a few punches (that hurt...but it takes more than that to stop Busch) the guy didn't do all that much...in fact Dan was very active from his back...landing good punches and narrowly missed on a couple triangles. But in truth...in the third round Dan had the chance to finish the guy, but ran out of gas...he may have won the round, but he needed to stop this guy and Dan just didn't get it done... Regardless, it was the fight of the night and the crowd noise was so loud you couldn't hear the horn...is was exciting and fun to watch...can't say there was a real loser in this one...congrats to both...damn good fight. Thanks to Dan Velton and Jesse Geringer in the corner.........Rod was up next and Rodney was off his game...his opponent fustrated him for 3 rounds with the same tactics as Mike Harris; diving in low for take downs and hanging on. Rod never seemed to be able to get untracked and lost on points...but in truth his guy was tough and fast and seemed to have some McVicker style training that we were not made aware of...so it goes...next time Rod...good fight and lots of heart...

Jesse Geringer wins at St Ann...

Jesse Geringer took home a unanimous decision Saturday night (21 Nov) at the St. Ann benefit show. After starting off strong; returned fire to stave off a couple of late round charges by his savy opponent (who's a excellent conventional fighter) and kept his guy unsure and out of sync for the entire fight. Jesse is a MMA fighter and for the most part fights that way...but he managed very well (resisted the urge to clinch) punched from every angle;threw clean jabs and crosses; good defense...both footwork and hands...and pretty much dominated the entire fight. Jake Holdens fight fell threw and he sat out this one; hope to get Jake untracked soon. CK took the day off; has been nursing a sore car (took a vicious left hook from a 18 wheeler) and his record still stands at 4-1 for the time being...

Hraboskys Saloon; Battle at the Ball Park...two more wins!

Rods opponent backed out and Jesse was sick, but still willing to go. After some rearranging Jesse's guy also backed out and Matt had school and ROTC scheduling problems. So that left Josh and Dan...but that turned out pretty good. Both won in impressive fashion. Josh dealt out some slick grappling moves that had the other guys scratching their heads and in the second round got a arm bar off a headlock. Win for Josh...his opponent was a very experienced MMA amateur with more that 8 fights. Josh had 2 until that night. Congrats Josh... Dan was great. Dan also had only 2 fights until we talked him into fighting a vet amateur MMA fighter with a couple pro fights to boot. 27-28 all together. Dan dominated the entire 3 rounds and took a unanimous win. See...we told you Dan...congrats... Jesse worked with both Dan and Josh on their grappling and it paid off big...thanks Jesse and great job running the corner.

Latest fights

Matt Finan and Rod Bond took a trip to a very...very big MMA venue in small town Poplar Bluff Mo. The Black River Coliseum is a monster; there were 3600 people watching MMA fighters from The Hit Squad, Team Destruction and ATT...(Americas Top Team) Rod was matched against a Hit Squad fighter for the second time, but again, due to circumstance beyond anyone's control, Rod's opponent could not show up. Matt was matched against a fighter from Americas Top Team...and we knew this would be a tough fight for Matt, but Matt wanted to take this fight. He felt he was ready. After much back and forth action in the first round and with only a few seconds left Matt got caught in a nasty choke and had to tap out. It was a good fight with more action in just the first round than many fights you see in three. Matt threw two or three kicks, 4-5 punches, (bloodied his opponent), one knee, shot in for a take down, escaped a RNC and took his opponents back and may have had it...but he got too far forward, posted and the other guy trapped his arm to pull Matt over. Matt took the fight to the Top Team fighter and everything was looking pretty good until one slip up...happens in this game. Congrats to Matt on a good fight against a well train, older fighter. Charles Klayman moves to a 4-1 record and Jesse Geringer has added boxing to his fight bag...more later

Alton Fight show...Metro MMA Productions

We only had one fighter on this show; after some trouble putting matches together...but one was more than plenty. Rodney Bond was put up against a Granite City fighter that had enough guts to stand with him. It was over in a minute thirteen. Rod's opponent threw a right leg kick low, (but blocked) and a pretty sharp right hook to follow and then tried to combo a right backfist. Rodney came back and landed a left hand flush on the jaw that sent the other guy reeling and stumbling backwards; then as he bounced off the cage Rod caught him with another solid left before throwing a right hand that landed somewhere. Then Rodney was on him for a takedown. After some resistance, Rod moved smoothly to a mount; some shoeshines later and a well placed hammer blow...the guy was through. Doctors did a nice job of getting to the fighter; after a few minutes and some pretty thick bandages the fighter was happy to have survived and walked from the cage. Rodney also took home an extra trophy for Fight of the Night...Congrats Rodney...

Sudden Death: Show-Me Grappling Tournament

Five SCR fighters went to the first ever Show-Me Grappling Tournament put on by Tony Biondo and Mike Rogers...and it was a great show. SCR came away with 3 medals for the day. Jesse Geringer, Jim Curtis, Dan Busch, Matt Finan and Earl Lamkie all put on a great performance. Jesse Geringer beat his first 3 opponents; one of them by arm bar and another a armbar off the tri-angle. Make no mistake, these were good opponents; in fact, a mid size turn out, but there were no bad grapplers present. All top competitors from the areas top Grappling and MMA clubs. Vaghi's, St Charles MMA, Team Destruction, Domain, McVickers and Bergers MMA (if I left anybody out, let me know) all brought some top people...so competition was keen. Jesse then went on to match one of the top grapplers in the midwest...and took the fight to him for the entire regulation 5 minutes. Then they went to sudden death...and it seemed for ever...it went on so long I ran out of card space on my cam...then the battery went dead. It was an epic battle; Jesse lost on a point given away, but if there was ever a case to use the phrase, "there were no loser" this would be one of them... Matt Finan took first place in his division; out pointing both opponents with some quick moves and showing power on the ground...Jim Curtis took a bronze and may have done even better, but got hung up in a choke after out scoring his opponent 11-4...tough luck. Dan Busch came to fight as always, but after winning his first match with some smart moves, he started to feel the effects of a large wound on his ribs from a previous encounter with the Black Knight and lost his next two. Granted, one of them was to one of the top fighters in the area...but he won his last match with some struggle...but a win is a win. Earl did a great job of coaching from the sidelines and sacrificed his own game to keep the others on theirs...and suffered a hard day...but he gave Josh Sampo a bit of a scare when he did a slick move that caught him by surprise...almost...

Coors Boxing Show in Belleville; CK walks away with his third win...

A real walk...as in walk-over win: CK trained hard; recovering from surgery,he got himself healthy and a few days before the fight, sparred everyone in our gym including some 200 pounders for almost an hour. CK is a 125 pounder for those who don't know. When we arrived Friday night, we get a call that his opponent (from TKO gym) cannot show. We hung around and waited for somebody else to become available, but when it was clear no one would...we took the walk-over win. Though CK's opponent had a good reason, time and money go into a fighter and being ready for fights takes effort.

Grapplin' match!

There will be a Gi-No Gi, tourny put on by Mike Rogers and Tony Biondo at Jefferson College at Hillsboro off Hwy 21...on 15 August (Sat)...starting at 9am (registration) and the cost is a very reasonable $25 for either Gi or No-Gi bracket. Matches decided that morning, to be based on experience...beginner, novice etc...

Sudden Impact MMA Show St Chas

Josh Crouch's opponent backed out at weigh-in...and at the request of the promoter, a last minute scramble was made to pit one of our fighters, Pat Dowd, with another fighter whose opponent also backed out...that was a go...until the night of the fight when this same guy didn't show...plus Dan Busch's guy backed out at the very last moment.  That left Rod Bond...and his guy decided not to fight, but just kept tackling Rod and won a questionable call in 3 long rounds of wrestling. The margin of victory may have been an illegal cut kick (below the knee) that Rods opponent got away with in the second. Perhaps the ref got confused because the rules were changing at whim. If the show was done according to the "official" ISKA rules...Rods opponent would have been "sent to a neutral corner (hmm...in a cage that could be confusing) and Rod would get an 8 count. But also the rules say, unless he was unable to get up right away, then "...referee would start a TEN COUNT and the downed fighter declared a loser unless he was up by the count of 8". (hmm...then why the ten count?) No wonder the ref didn't know what he was doing...pretty confusing. I thought the whole idea behind safety in MMA was to eliminate the 8 count? Less brain damage. Also rules for legitimate sanctioning bodies say you get extra points for takedowns (we think...not clear on ISKA website and it was never explained before hand...during the first set of rules...they never bothered to address the group IN WHOLE after that)...but Rod's opponent never tried one technique after any of his takedowns. He attempted an arm bar, but that was after the fact as Rod was moving to stand up; Rod easily pulled out of it. The opponent tried to keep everything close and defensive the entire time. Rod had a tight Kimura in the early round (later the guy admitted his arm was going numb) and with the ref staring right into his face, wincing with pain, much to his credit Rods opponent managed to stick it out for a 8-10 seconds until the bell saved him. All in all, strange night for SCR; left us wondering what we did to deserve this except nearly sweep at our last show. The guys didn't beef about all this; they make no excuses...I would like to see one set of legitimate rules. Thanks to Pat Dowd for having the guts to take a last minute fight and changing plans to make the show; Josh and Earl in the corner and everybody else (thanks Cal...!) for the support and help.

3 of 4 AT THE BATTLE AT THE BALLPARK!

The Ground and Pound Radio show were more than good enough to point out that SCR went 3 of 4 at the Man Up, Battle at the Ball Park Show (Al Hrabosky's Saloon)...and they also mentioned we were one unlucky punch away from going 4 of 4; yeah, we were...but now we have a goal; since 2006 gone 3 of 4 twice and 3 of 3 once...now we need a 4 for 4...not easy; not easy to get 4 fighters ready and on the card for any one show, but we have something to shoot for. Thanks Ground and Pound we really appreciate the good word.

Battle at the Ballpark

SCR FIGHTERS JOSH CROUCH, DAN BUSCH, AND ROD BOND TOOK HOME WINS SATURDAY AFTERNOON. JESSE GERINGER COMPLETELY DOMINATED HIS OPPONENT, HAD HIM IN MOUNT TWICE, AND WITHIN A SPLIT SECOND OF HAVING THE REF STOP THE FIGHT IN HIS FAVOR, TOOK A ONE IN A MILLION SHOT FROM THE GROUND THAT STOPPED HIM. GOOD PUNCH, BUT HARD LUCK... JOSH FOUGHT A SMART, ALMOST PERFECT FIGHT AND CHOKED HIS OPPONENT OUT IN THE FIRST ROUND...WAY TO GO JOSH... DANNY HAD THE MOST EXCITING BACK AND FORTH FIGHT OF THE NIGHT; EVEN THOUGH DAN TOOK SOME HARD SHOTS, HE BATTLED HIS WAY INTO A TKO OF HIS OPPONENT IN THE SECOND ROUND. GREAT FIGHT... ROD COMPLETELY STEAMROLLED HIS OPPONENT FOR A KO IN 30 SECONDS OF THE FIRST ROUND. ROD LANDED A RIGHT HAND ON THE EAR OF HIS OPPONENT THAT KNOCKED HIM TO THE GROUND...AND CREDIT TO THIS FIGHTER, HE GOT BACK UP AND PERHAPS THAT WAS A MISTAKE. ANOTHER COUPLE SHOTS AND HE WAS OUT. THANKS TO TONY BIONDO AND MANUP PROMOTIONS FOR A GREAT SHOW; AL HRABOSKY'S BALLPARK SALOON FOR HAVING A PERFECT MMA VENUE...SPECIAL THANKS TO MIKE ROGERS FOR INVITING US. I WANT TO ADD; CREDIT MUST BE GIVEN TO RYAN MCKINNEY, EARL LAMKIE AND JESSE GERINGER FOR GREAT WORK IN THE CORNER AND TO HEAD COACH BEN THOMAS WHOS TRAINING PROGRAMS AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL FOR ALL JUJITSU AND SUBMISSION FIGHTING TECHNIQUES ARE THE CORE OF SCR FIGHTERS.

News!

SCR fighters Jesse Geringer, Rodney Bond, Josh Crouch and Dan Busch are scheduled to fight this Saturday at 2:30 pm (13 June) at Al Hrabosky's downtown; they will also be interviewed on Ground and Pound Radio, (part of River Front Radio) on Weds night (10 June) at 8:30 or 9pm. Check it out: http://www.riverfrontradio.com/members/2853/index.php

Battle on Broadway...MMA

SCR fighters Josh Crouch and Dan Busch fought two of the only three fights that went 3 rounds for the entire night. That's pretty good considering it was against the top amateur MMA program in the area...and it was on their own turf...and the home team won every match of the night. Congrats Josh on the best fight of the night (could have gone either way) and Dan for a gutsy performance that had both fighters on their knees still punching each other as the bell rang...they lost, but no one can deny they came to fight.

Boxing down south...

SCR fighter Nicole Martin went the distance in a close fight; she came up short on the judges card, but that doesn't always tell the story. We want to thank her for taking the fight to begin with; she had been lifting weights to match a bigger competitor from The Hit Squad...concentrating on her ground game to get ready for this MMA match....which was canceled. She had to scramble a bit to get enough boxing in to make the show and her hand speed was down from the weight lifting.
Nicole won't make any excuses, so I will say them; the white part of her left eye was bleeding a little from a quick right hand she took in the first round, but no one noticed until after the fight. Even she didn't know it was scratched; all she knew was she couldn't see very well, but she didn't tell her corner; she wasn't going to let that stop her. Gotta love her...
The match was good boxing for the most part, though there was some concern about what a illegal clinch was (Thai clinch...I thought for a second Nicole might act from instinct and drive a knee!) and what a overhand was; the referee was being a little too active. Not as brutal as Nicoles first MMA fight, where her opponent had to go to the hospital, we were glad that boxing, as opposed to "fighting" was on the card.
Credit goes to the other side for getting their fighter ready for her very first match. Though total number of punches landed may have been close, Nicole's opponent kept pushing the fight and kept coming at Nicole for three rounds. The level of technique used was very high for a division of boxing (or any combat sport) that often has problems finding enough training partners (much less opponents)...so hat's off and hearts out to both fighters...good job.
Tyler Sindelar lost on the judges card also...backed into the corner 3-4 times, his opponent threw more punches...but after the first round most of those punches were slipped, rolled off or picked off...and Tyler landed solid 1-2's. Apparently the judges count punches they guess they see rather than the ones right in front of their eyes. In the second, Tyler picked off most of the punches and looked to win the round, parrying and jabing clean counters and connecting solidly on 1-2's...but in the last round Tyler knocked his opponent against the ropes...and the rope was the only thing keeping him from going down. There should have been a standing 8 count...then Tyler knocked him down again...and even if it wasn't a clean knock down, (on one knee) he was rocked from the first left hand. The video shows in detail 3-4 punches land before he went down, but the referee somehow saw this as a slip...perhaps a stumble, but that wouldn't make any difference...there should have been a standing 8 when he was rocked from the first hit; then punches landing hard on the opponents head again just seconds later; this should be a standing eight...but for some reason she didn't call it. There is no extra points for standing 8's, but to the judges mind...and punches landed...yes; count them and Tyler landed more in the last two rounds. Tyler was never really hurt, never out of control nor tired...the judges may have put too much on punches thrown and backing Tyler into the corner, but most of them never landed...and had no effect; I only saw two punches that looked like it even stung Tyler and he shrugged them off and countered in most cases. However...we accept the call and credit the opponent on his fight...good fight.
However, there's one call we have to bring attention to...how can anybody in their right mind give a win to Aldo Castro's opponent. People were booing...even a member from the host team was booing...terrible.

SCR at SBAC...South Broadway Athletic Club

Congrats Charles Klayman; CK won his second fight Thursday night at the South Broadway Athletic Club with a referee stoppage of the fight in the second round.

Rey Vega took a hard loss after seemingly winning the first round, lost ground in the second; then simply ran out of gas deep into the third and with just seconds left after a flurry of punches from his opponent, the ref called a stop to the fight. Credit due his opponent who seemed to get stronger after each round and as expected, came on the strongest in the third. Next time Rey...
Also want to thank everybody who showed up to help out and give support...thanks folks...

Boxing at Ameristar Casino St Charles

Congrats to both Charles Klayman and Rey Vega.

CK won convincingly against a tough opponent; going the distance and taking a unnamimous verdict. CK was able to connect with multiple punches with both hands making solid contact with smart counters and good offense in the late rounds.

On a split count, Rey lost his match even though he came on strong in the final round backing his opponent into the corner, but was unable to follow up with time running out. Rey showed a lot of heart though it took him a while to figure out his rivals unorthodox fighting style, he weathered the early rounds and finished strong.

Good work to both fighters...

Sunshine at The Heart Of St Charles MMA fight

Nicole (Sunshine) Martin fought two rounds of the best fight of the night; she pounded her opponent with punches and though the fight should have been stopped earlier Nicole was stopped by the referee when she was stung by an overhand late into the second round. Luckily, Nicole was not hurt, not off her feet and still willing and able to go on, but everyone was relieved when the fight was stopped because the other girl's eye was closed and a deep cut under her other. Her nose was also bleeding and her mouth was swollen and we were left wondering if we were watching a pro fight. Strangely, an official from the commission (one of many) was immediately present directly after the fight (before the doctor was...he was absent during the fight) to tell Nicole she was suspended for 30 days because of K0...Nicole just looked at him...this "suspension" was later retracted. Nicole fought a gutsy, tough fight against an older opponent...she didn't come out of this scrap without some shrapnel wounds, but she carried them well...

Great No-Gi tourny at Meramec Community College

This was a beaut of a tourney put on by Mike Rogers and Rodrigo Vaghi...smart and well run; our only fighter was young Dan Chudy...one of the best boxers and kick boxers in our gym, but had only been training grappling under Ben Thomas for a few months. However he won his first match and was stopped by the ref in his second match because the ref feared Dan would hurt his elbow from a arm bar applied by his opponent. Even though Dan was standing up and later said he was not in trouble, we are grateful that the refs are looking out for our youngsters and by all means should use his judgement to prevent injury...Dan Chudy is hard-nosed and tough, but we don't want him writing with his left hand for a two weeks. Thanks to Mike Rogers and Rodrigo Vaghi

2006-2007 SCR MMA fights

Brandon Garrison went to ISCF Classics in Iowa City, Iowa and fought a hard fight; both fighters were down on the mat unable to go on after the second round...Brandon from a knee to the spine and the other guys shoulder was dislocated. Brandon managed to connect on a spinning back fist in the first round that took his opponent by surprise and escaped from a rear naked choke before things got ugly in the second. A true battle of heavy weights. SCR sent 3 fighters to Sullivan Mo. (Cage Championships) and came back with 3 wins...and a team trophy (that the promoters failed to stand behind, taking a gutless way out)...congrats to Ryan McKinney on a super win against a tough opponent. SCR heavyweight Brandon Garrison KO'ed his opponent within 26 seconds of the first round at the Proving Grounds Fight Show in Lebanon Mo...way to go Brandon. SCR sent 4 fighters to Wentzville Cage of Honor show and came away with 3 wins; congrats to Jesse Geringer, Ryan McKinney for great fights...
