SCR Fight Club: Boxing and MMA St. Louis

We teach Boxing, Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts. On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday we work mostly on grappling, group instruction starts at 6:00pm and goes to about 7:30pm. On Tuesday and Friday we do striking, again most instruction is going to be done between 6:00 and 7:30. We'll do conditioning workouts after 7:30 for our fighters, anyone is welcome to join in, though they are very hard workouts.
The way our gym is set up though, you can work on pretty much whatever you want on any day. If you just want to do boxing, you can still come in and hit the bags on a Monday, and you can still roll around in the mat room on Tuesday if you just want to work on grappling. Usually there will be trainers there to work with you. I'm not saying you'll get private lessons, but you will get instruction.
The way we run our place is different from most, often people worry that they will not get enough instruction. The best thing to do really, is just come in and try it out. You can have a free trial lesson to see if you like it or not.

Memberships fees are $100 per month. There is no contract, no start up cost, and you don't need to buy any equipment to get started.
Or you can sign up for three months in advance for $240.

You will find some more information about the various things we teach below.

Boxing

Our training will teach you how to jab and hook, slip and counter, and bob and weave with the best of them. We emphasize strong fundamentals and great endurance. Here at SCR Fight Club we have fighters training to compete and people looking to stay in shape working side by side. We train fighters ages 13 and up. We are a member of USA Boxing, LBC Ozark 22, and our trainers are certified USA Boxing trainers, with over 15 years of experience.

Safety is a concern with any physical activity, even more so with boxing. However, a distinction must be made between boxing as a sport, either professional or amateur, and boxing as a workout. It is possible to participate in a boxing workout and never have a single real punch thrown at you. Since most injuries in the pros are caused by punches landing, not getting hit significantly reduces the chance of getting hurt.

Even if you do choose to spar, you will always have head gear and 16oz gloves. When people spar in my gym, they don't try to knock each other out.

Mixed Martial Arts

Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA, is a broad term used to describe combat sports which include striking, take downs, and grappling. Rules can vary greatly from one organization to the next. We teach MMA geared toward amateur ISCF, and Kick International rules, since these are the two largest sactioning bodies operating in the area. We teach boxing and Muay Thai style strikes, Wrestling and Judo style take downs, and Jujitsu, and Catch Wrestling style grappling and submissions. We train people looking to fight, and those that just want to learn a thing or two about the fastest growing sport in America. Ages 16 and up.

Muay Thai

There are many rituals, myths, music and dress associated with the art of Muay Thai, or Thai Boxing. However the thing that has made Muay Thai famous, is the strikes. Be they strikes with the foot, leg, knee, elbow or fist, Muay Thai strike land with tremendous speed and power. When you get into the ring with our Muay Thai trainer he will guide you through a program designed to energize your natural, fighting moves; add a little torque, some plyometric action, and put these ballistics into the best movement your body can do. We stress power strikes over finesse, but from the begining we combine movement with the strikes to press home the need for strong stance, balance, footwork and range.
